Can I Use Chemicals If I Use a Chlorine Generator?
Chlorine generators are common in residential pools, with good reason. They turn sodium chloride into chlorine, saving you from having to buy, store and deal with a potentially hazardous chemical. But chlorine isn't the only chemical your pool might need. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Stabilizer
-
Cyanuric acid is a stabilizer that helps prevent sunlight from weakening the sanitation protection chlorine provides. It is a necessary chemical for outdoor pools and will not interfere with the operation of your chlorine generator.
PH Balance
-
Maintaining the PH balance of the water is essential to your enjoyment of your pool and the well-being of your pool equipment. It is typically adjusted with either hydrochloric acid or sodium carbonate. Proper use of these chemicals will not harm your chlorine generator.

Other Additves
-
After a heavy rain, a large pool party, or some form of contamination, you may need to shock your pool. Depending on your local water, you may need other additives for your comfort or water clarity. Algae problems are rare with salt water pools, but if one develops, that will need treatment as well. None of the usual pool chemicals will harm or affect your chlorine generator. When in doubt, ask your chemical supplier.
