Information on the Lucent WaveLAN/EC Ethernet Converter thumbnail
WaveLAN Ethernet cards turn wired networks into wireless networks.

Ethernet is the primary Local Area Network technology deployed by companies. The Ethernet cable connects each computer on the network to the server. The WaveLAN/EC Ethernet converter is a LAN accessory that adds additional operating flexibility to the LAN.

  1. Identification

    • Companies can use a WaveLAN/EC Ethernet converter to transform a standard, wired Ethernet connection into a wireless Ethernet connection. By doing so, they are free to move desktops and laptops around as required to improve working conditions and productivity.

    Compatibility

    • The WaveLAN/EC Ethernet converter card fits in the standard wireless card socket on laptops and in the standard ISA card bus on most desktops. If a laptop or desktop doesn't have the standard slots, off-the-shelf adapters are normally available to bridge any incompatibilities.

    Significance

    • Companies can use the WaveLAN/EC Ethernet converter to add flexibility to an existing corporate network without incurring the cost normally associated with rewiring or moving a network and/or office computers around. This flexibility can significantly increase employee productivity and the company bottom line.
