What Kind of Fruit Grows in North Central Florida?

Many fruits grow in north Florida

North Central Florida is cold enough to grow many deciduous fruits but warm enough to grow several citrus cultivars. When grown in protected areas, some tropical fruits can be grown in north Florida.

Blueberries

Blueberries grow well in North Central Florida. For best results grow rabbiteye cultivars.

Grapes

Muscadine grapes are adapted to North Central Florida growing conditions. These thick-skinned grapes are grown primarily for juices and jellies.

Peaches

Some varieties of peach trees grow in North Central Florida. Flordadawn and Flordaking grow in North Central Florida growing conditions.

Apple

Anna, Dorsett Golden and TropicSweet produce fruit in North Central Florida. TropicSweet must be grown with Anna or Dorsett Golden for pollination.

Fig

Figs grow in North Central Florida. Brown Turkey will produce fruit even after a severe freeze. Celeste is less susceptible to fruit rotting.

Plum

Plum trees grow readily in North Central Florida. Gulfruby and Gulfblaze flower early and produce medium-sized fruit.
