Mosquito Spray for My Yard

Mosquitoes in the yard make the area uninviting for outdoor gatherings. An outdoor mosquito spray releases insecticide into the air, providing temporary protection from mosquito bites.

Types

Insecticides that can you can spray in the yard to kill mosquitoes include bifenthrin, permethrin, lambda-cyhalothrin and cyfluthrin. They come as concentrates that you need to dilute or as ready-to-use formulations.

Efficacy

Insecticidal sprays only kill adult mosquitoes. They also have low residual effect and usually only last for a few days. This temporary protection is suitable for preparing the yard before outdoor gatherings.

Application

A hose-end sprayer can evenly and conveniently spread the insecticide around the yard. Mosquitoes like to rest in protected sites during the day, so sprays should focus on shady areas with dense vegetation. Removing tall weeds and overgrowth also helps reduce mosquito problems.
