Software for HVAC

HVAC stands for "heating, ventilation and air conditioning" and refers to the industry for commercial and residential heating and cooling systems. Like most industries--if not all!--HVAC has entered the computer age and there are a number of HVAC-related types of software available for HVAC professionals. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. HVAC Design Software

    • HVAC design software helps engineers plan and develop HVAC systems. These programs can be used to draft complete heating and cooling systems, offer calculations based on building size and types of heating and cooling units, and determine constant velocity, pressure and temperature variances.

    CAD-Based Programs

    • Some HVAC design programs are computer-aided design (CAD) based and can create 3-D representations of HVAC systems. CAD software has the advantage that it can be used to determine the efficiency of an HVAC system in a computer model of the actual building where it is being installed.

    HVAC Calculation Software

    • HVAC calculation tool software is designed to determine characteristics of an actual or proposed HVAC system. It can be used to calculate heat loss and gain and give assistance in how to size furnaces and air conditioners and other aspects of an HVAC system.
