Homemade Microphone Amplifier

Build your own microphone amplifier to customize your needs.

A microphone amplifier converts sounds wave into an electrical signal, then amplifies it and converts it back into sound wave. Most amplifiers may be too powerful or too big for personal use. Building your own homemade microphone amplifier may be your best option.

  1. Step 1

    • Seven wires will be used as connections between all components. To connect the microphone cable tip to the transistor base lead, wire the phono jack. To connect the negative terminal, wire the sleeve terminal on the phono jack.

    Step 2

    • One of the 300 Ohm resistor leads has to be connected to the positive terminal, the other to the transistor collector lead and one of the capacitor leads. Connect the free capacitor lead to the outside leads on the potentiometer then the potentiometer wiper lead to the speaker terminal. Connect the negative power supply terminal to the speaker terminal.

    Step 3

    • One of the 100 Ohm resistor leads has to be connected to the transistor emitter lead and the other to the negative terminal.
