Verizon DVR Media Troubleshooting
Several factors can affect the quality of media playback with a digital videorecorder (DVR). The first step in diagnosing the source of the problem is to isolate it and rule out possible sources.
-
Testing
-
It is frequently possible to find out where a problem is not coming from by trying other sources. If a problem is experienced with a particular channel or file, try other channels and files to see if the problem still occurs. The next step is to try other input signals, such as a DVD player or try the file on a different television.
Inputs
-
If problems are recurring with multiple files, channels or input devices try checking the connections. Disconnect all devices from the television and reconnect them to ensure the connections are tight. A loose connection can cause problems with the signal including snow, pixilation and lines.
-
Cables
-
It is also a good idea to regularly inspect connection cables. It can be difficult to spot damage to a cable but a worn, broken or damaged cable can interfere with reception and playback. In the case of a DVR, this can also affect the quality of the recording.
