Can You Steam Clean Vinyl Furniture?

Steam cleaning uses water heated at an extremely high temperature to clean items deeply and thoroughly. Steam cleaning has a number of uses around the house, including the cleaning of vinyl furniture or vinyl upholstery.

Steam cleaning is suitable for cleaning vinyl upholstery, including vinyl-covered furniture in your home and vinyl surfaces in your car. Use a conditioning treatment on the surface after cleaning.

Considerations

Use the lowest setting on the stream cleaner and opt for a triangular brush. Hold the nozzle of the cleaner at least six inches from the surface of the vinyl and move down as you clean. Wipe the vinyl with a damp towel to remove any debris and then dry the vinyl with a soft towel.

Warning

Before using the steam cleaner all over the vinyl, test it on a small area first. This is especially important if you use any type of chemical cleaner with the steam cleaning machine, as the chemical cleaner may cause discoloration.
