What Will Interfere With a Petsafe Wireless Fence?

PetSafe wireless fences, hidden fences that are buried underground or attached to wooden fences, keep a dog in the yard or stop the pet from digging holes under existing fences. Fences work with a transmitter and receiver collar; either can experience interference. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Environment

    • Metal crates can cause a dog to receive a shock. Inside the metal crate, the collar can lose the signal from the transmitter, which causes the collar to activate. The collar must be removed from a dog when indoors, especially if the dog is placed in a metal crate.

    Potential

    • If your neighbor has a PetSafe wireless fence, and you try to put your PetSafe fence near the neighbor's fence, the neighbor's fence can cancel out the signal from your transmitter.

    Warning

    • Underground utility wires can cause interference with the PetSafe containment system. Before you dig a trench for the underground fence, contact the utility company to establish where the underground cables and wires are located, and stay at least 5 feet away from that area.
