Neon Light Power Alternatives

Neon Light Power Alternatives thumbnail
Neon lights illuminate the night for advertising purposes.

Neon lights are a flashy way to gain attention for a business as possible customers pass by the area. The natural brightness neon brings to a simple, formed piece of glass can be achieved by other power alternatives.

  1. LED Lighting

    • Light emitting diodes (LEDs), lighting is one alternative to neon that offers flexibility. Typically, the LEDs are placed in a clear, plastic tubing that can be bent into almost any shape needed. The heat emitted is extremely low compared to the heat from a neon light, making it more versatile with regard to placement near heat-sensitive items, such as decorations.

    Fiber Optic Lighting

    • Fiber optic lighting requires an illuminator and glow cabling. Aside from being more cost-effective than neon lighting, fiber optic cabling has a distinct ability to change colors as specified, allowing for a recognizable addition to a business' outside advertising sign.

    Interesting Fact

    • LED and fiber optic lighting offer a way for businesses to lower their building insurance rates. If a business was insured with neon lighting, and subsequently changed their lighting, the rates may lower due to less risk of fire from neon signage.
