Construction Site Induction Procedures
Construction site induction is a process all construction workers must complete before they are allowed to work on the site. Induction provides information to workers about the specific jobs carried out on the site, the associated risks and ways to avoid injuries.
-
Policies
-
Inductions should always include an introduction to the policies and practices espoused by the construction company and the unique roles played by each person working on the site.
Project Details
-
New inductees must also become familiar with certain aspects of the construction project, including its history, current stage, types of construction involved, end use requirements, locations of statutory notices and its future program of work.
-
Hazards
-
Finally, induction must include a discussion of the hazards specific to the construction site in question. This discussion should include all procedural rules surrounding potentially hazardous tasks such as working at height, emergency evacuations and open excavations.
