How To Install a Jeep Soundbar

Soundbars are a good way to improve the sound quality of a Jeep by supplementing the factory speakers with additional speakers, while not filling the cabin with speaker boxes. Soundbars are easily installed by hand, though additional wiring may be required to connect the soundbar to the Jeep's radio unit.

  • Soundbars are available with dual speakers to improve the performance of a Jeep's sound system. Since the speakers in the soundbar sit close to the driver and passenger's head, the sound improvement is noticeable even when driving with the top down. Some soundbars also contain interior lights and come in plastic or upholstered variants.

  • Installation of a soundbar is a straightforward process. Place the soundbar on top of the Jeep's rollbar, with the speakers of the soundbar facing forward. Soundbars use one of two methods of attachment: velcro ends or brackets with securing screws. If your soundbar uses velcro, simply wrap the velcro ends around the factory rollbar. If the soundbar utilizes brackets, use the included screws to secure the end brackets to the rollbar by drilling pass-through holes in the rollbar, then inserting the hardware through the holes.

  • Soundbars will be specific to your Jeep model (CJ, YJ, TJ or JK) so be sure the soundbar you select is appropriate for your model.

  • Run the speaker wire down the sides of the rollbar under the padding, then onward under the floor to the front console. Connect the speaker wires to the factory head unit.
