USB to 25-Pin Serial Port
Modern computer manufacturers have been doing away with legacy device ports on new computers for years. The problem with this is that if you need to connect a legacy serial device to your computer, you're out of luck. However, Universal Serial Bus (USB) provides a way to connect almost any type of device to your modern computer.

History
-
Historically, 25-pin and 9-pin serial ports were used to connect a modem to the computer. Currently, serial ports via USB adapters provide connectivity for legacy communications devices.
USB to 25-Pin Adapter
-
To connect a 25-pin serial device to your computer, you'll need a USB to 25-pin serial adapter. These can be found at online retailers for a modest price. These can be used with USB 1.1 or 2.0 ports and provide an instant high-speed serial port on your PC or Macintosh.

Considerations
-
Be sure that you actually need to connect a serial device to your computer. Serial ports are often confused with printer parallel ports, which a USB to serial adapter won't support. Keep in mind that you'll need a serial cable for your device as well, as the adapter won't connect directly to the serial device.
