About Truck Lift Kit Installation
Many options, from large to small, are available for a truck owner in regard to lifting a truck. Installation of truck lift kits can be done by the owner or a professional, depending on the complexity of the lift.
-
Purpose
-
A lift kit offers truck owners a way to show their unique style, as well as provide functionality if using the vehicle for off-roading purposes. The lift kit replaces the stock suspension parts with owner-specified suspension.
Installation
-
The suspension, including the spring coils, are replaced to give clearance under the vehicle's body. Depending on the size of the lift, large tires can be installed for maneuvering through dirt or mud. Also, keep in mind that other components may need upgrading along with the suspension lift. Verify that the brakes and differential gears will function adequately with the new dimensions of the vehicle.
-
Considerations
-
Every installation varies in complexity, due to the height of the lift and the model of the truck. Keep in mind that cutting and welding may be necessary for proper installation, so verify each individual truck's anatomy to determine whether it can be done at home or only by a professional.
