Why Does My Sony Reader Touch Edition Have a Big Exclamation Point in the Middle of the Screen?
Sony eReaders are convenient to travel with and minimize the amount of clutter in your home. However what happens when you are in the midst of reading and come across an exclamation symbol on your screen?
-
The Device Is Locked
-
If you have just purchased your eReader and have had trouble connecting to your computer or system, the device may be locked. If there is an exclamation point along and with the words, "Device Locked" then you must unlock it with the pass code. You can turn the device lock option off if you desire. You must deactivate your eReader with the correct code in order for it to be recognized by your computer.
Battery
-
One of the reasons why you may have an exclamation point on your touch screen is due to a low battery. Plug your eReader in and let your battery fully recharge before using it again.
-
Resetting Your eReader
-
If you still receive an exclamation point with an error message about the file you are trying to open, remove the file from your eReader and reinstall it. If you continue to have issues, save all your files on your computer and reset the eReader to default settings. If you have borrowed digital books you must make sure that all borrowed books are in the same format of either ePub or PDF. Digital books in the BBeB format will cause an error.
