How Does Windows Support Quickbooks?

Intuit's QuickBooks small business software is compatible with most Microsoft Windows systems, allowing a user to automatically send email and create documents using Windows programs such as Outlook and Word.

  1. QuickBooks 2010 and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 10

    • Quickbooks can help you track invoices, pay bills and organize your accounts, but your system must meet the minimum requirements needed to run the program. The Quickbooks programs -- Quickbooks 2010 and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 10 -- are compatible with most Windows operating systems including all editions of Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 or 2008 Standard. Most of these are also supported in 64 bit. Windows Home Server Edition is not supported by this program.

    Windows 7, Vista or XP Minimum Requirements

    • There are minimum requirements needed to run Quickbooks 10 or Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions 10 on your Windows 7, Vista or XP computer. You must have at least a 2.0GHz Pentium 4 processor. A 2.4GHz Pentium 4 processor is recommended.

      Also, 512MB RAM or 1GB of RAM is needed if the program will be used by several people. There should also be at least 1.5 GB of free disk space for documents you will produce and at least 232 MB to 1GB of free space for programs that run with QuickBooks, including Microsoft .Net 3.5 Runtime and Google Desktop Search.

    Windows XP: QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions Minimum Requirements

    • To run QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions with Windows XP, the computer should have at least a 2.0GHz Pentium 4 processor and at least 512MB RAM. QuickBooks recommends 1GB of RAM if the program is used on a server. In addition, 1.5 GB of free space is needed for data files the program will upload. Another 232 MB should be free to run Microsoft .NET and Google Desktop Search. If the program will run on a network, the minimum requirements are a 100 Mbps network card, a 100 Mbps switch or router and 40 Mbps of network bandwidth.
