What Is Mppe 128?

Microsoft Point-to-Point Encryption is a type of data encryption used by Microsoft to create secure connections for network connections made through Windows. This encryption method provides data security for information sent through dial-up and virtual private network connections.

  1. Keys

    • MPPE supports three levels of encryption that uses 40, 56 and 128-bit encryption keys. These keys are used to decipher encrypted data. MPPE 128 refers to a dial-up or VPN connection that is secured using a 128-bit encryption key.

    VPN

    • 128-bit MPPE connections are the most secure type of MPPE encryption. This type of encryption provides data security for the Point to-Point Tunneling Protocol used to transfer information between VPN clients and servers.

    Encryption

    • Dial-up connections also use MPPE encryption to protect information sent over connections using the Point-to-Point Protocol. The exact size of the encryption key used is negotiated during the initial connection and data is encrypted using the RSA RC4 algorithm.
