Portable solar panels are now used in any number of situations. Lightweight, portable devices are available for camping and other outdoor activities. Larger models are available for backup power for the home, and still others can be used to charge batteries and cell phones and to power laptops.
Prices

Prices for portable solar panels can run between $100 for a battery charger and $6,000 to $7,000 for an 80-watt to 240-watt power supply that will power several electronic devices. In between those extremes are a wide array of devices and accessories for a variety of purposes.

Newer nylon flexible solar panels are slightly more expensive than hard panels. Their light weight, easy setup and flexibility have made them an increasingly popular choice, particularly for camping and hiking.
