Metal Vs. Rubber Stock Tank

Stock tanks can be used from anything from landscaping to feeding livestock. The most prolific usage is for storage and livestock care. They are typically oblong in shape and hold large quantities of feed or water and can be made of metal or rubber. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Longevity

    • The rubber tank will last longer than the metal one. Metal is susceptible to corrosion and wear and tear brought on by animals and the element. Rubber tanks stand up much better to these exposures.

    Insulation

    • Rubber tanks provide better insulation than metal ones. In areas where farmers have to heat their livestock's water to keep it from freezing, the metal hardly provides any insulation against the cold temperatures. The rubber one provides a good deal of insulation; rubber is naturally better at this than metal. Additionally, rubber tanks are thicker and thickness is directly related to insulation.

    Animal Safety

    • Both tanks have their drawbacks when it comes to animal safety. As metal tanks age, they eventually begin to rust. This could cause the tank to shear and become a hazard in which animals can get cut and that may lead to infection. Depending on your livestock, the animals may chew the rubber. It is made in such a way that it would be extremely difficult, but it is possible and could lead to choking.
