Is a Canon Pixma MP140 Compatible With a PSUS4?

The Canon Pixma MP140 features an integrated printer, scanner and copier. This multifunction printer supports 4800-by-1200-dpi color printing. It does not work with Linksys' PSUS4 PrintServer, but is compatible with Windows File and Printer Sharing.

Features

The Canon Pixma MP140 uses a two-cartridge ink system capable of printing up to 20 pages per minute. When used as a copier, this multifunction printer can produce up to 19 black-and-white copies per minute. The integrated scanner features a contact image sensor that provides 1200-by-600-dpi image resolution. The Pixma MP140 connects to computers with a USB 2.0 cable.

Networking

The Canon MP140 lacks the Printer Control Language support required by the Linksys PSUS4 and other print servers. You still can share the printer over a computer network using the File and Printer Sharing feature included with Microsoft Windows.

Considerations

The Linksys PSUS4 PrintServer only shares network-enabled printers equipped with PCL support. To share the Canon MP140, connect it to a computer and enable sharing with the Windows File and Printer Sharing wizard. Windows lets you assign printer privileges to each network user and control when the printer is available to the network.
