What Is G2 Zoning?

The general industrial zone 2 zoning classification is used by local governments to designate the types of uses for which an area of land within a city or county can be used.

  1. Definition

    • A G2 zoned piece of land allows industries to operate that produce large amounts of light, noise, odor, fumes or other emissions that would be unsuitable in a residential area. The use of G2 zoned land for residential purposes is not recommended, according to Franklin County, Washington.

    Uses

    • An area designated as G2 can be used for light and heavy industrial uses, such as manufacturing and processing plants. Uses include the processing and packaging of food products and cosmetics, blacksmiths, automobile production and laboratories.

    Application

    • The G2 zoning classification is used in some districts for areas that would economically and physically benefit from the introduction of industrial applications.
