Euryops grows well in a container.

Shrubs serve as a foundation for smaller perennial and annual plants. The Euryops is an easy-care, sun-loving shrub. The daisy-like flowers and low maintenance make this evergreen shrub a common choice in warm climates. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Description

    • Growing to 6-feet tall and wide, Euryops, also known as the shrub daisy, is a tall, evergreen shrub bearing yellow, daisy-like flowers throughout the year. The leaves are green and deeply divided growing from numerous stems.

    Growing Requirements

    • Euryops grows in a wide range of soils but prefers well-drained, organic-rich soil and full sun. This shrub is not frost tolerant and dies in winter in climates colder than United States Department of Agriculture Plant Hardiness Zone 9.

    Uses

    • Use Euryops as a colorful, informal hedge or foundation plant. The flowers attract butterflies and bees to the garden. Birds feed on the seedheads once the flowers fade. Use the long-stemmed flowers in floral arrangements.

    Care

    • Pruning Euryops in late fall or early summer controls the size and keeps the plant looking neat. Cutting back spent flowers avoids self-seeding and encourages further blooming. Feed Euryops with a general-purpose fertilizer in the spring.
