Is It Safe to Put Muriatic Acid in a Swimming Pool?
Muriatic acid is a chemical that is added to pools to lower the pH in the water. The chemical is dangerous, but when used correctly, it is safe to use in a swimming pool. Does this Spark an idea?

When mixing muriatic acid to pour into the pool water, the acid must be added to water and never water added to the acid.

Muriatic acid that is diluted in water and added to the pool must be handled carefully. The solution must be poured in the deep end of the pool as far into the water as possible away from the pool wall and any fixtures. Goggles and gloves must be worn while preparing and adding the solution to the pool.

After the muriatic acid is added to the swimming pool, the filter must run for at least six hours and swimming is prohibited for a minimum of 12 hours.

if you can get away & go take him to the eye dr. i bet he would go with you once you got there, he may say no over the phone but if you show up in person i bet he would. Drive safe
