Burglar Motion Sensor Vs. Window Contact
Keeping would-be burglars out of your home involves thinking like a criminal and stopping the crime before it happens. Motion sensors monitor the outside of your home, while window contact alarms alert you when someone opens the monitored window. Does this Spark an idea?

Motion Sensors and Detectors
-
A motion detector is a light containing a small sensor that detects infrared waves from moving objects, such as a would-be burglar. When it detects an object, the detector turns on the light, discouraging any possible burglars.
Window Contact Alarms
-
A window contact alarm uses a sensor and magnet installed inside the window and its frame. If someone opens the window, the connection between the sensor and magnet breaks, sounding an alarm.

Choice
-
Motion detectors are installed outside the home in vulnerable break-in areas, while window contact alarms monitor the home from the inside. One type of burglar deterrent is generally no better than the other; they simply work in different ways and are both effective complements to your security system.
