What Is Client Server Testing?

What Is Client Server Testing? thumbnail
Client server testing maintains accurate portrayals of software compatibility and usability in a program.

Client server software such as Microsoft Outlook runs on client and server networks. Although relatively reliable, client server software needs to be tested regularly to predict and prevent large errors and fallacies while it is in use.

  1. Function

    • Client server testing is done by directing the software to perform certain tasks and functions within its virtual environment. Issues of compatibility, efficiency, portability, reliability, capability and maintainability are discovered during testing phases. A number of issues may arise in the software but can be dismissed as area of mild instability as opposed to certain failure.

    Black Box Testing

    • Black box testing methods generally test the usability experience of client server software. They're considered unbiased because the tester does not need to know the specific programming language of the software to execute testing modules.

    White Box Testing

    • White box testing is more structured than black box testing and focuses on the internal processes of the client server software. White box testers are familiar with the program they're testing and, therefore, may have a bias toward it. White box testing procedures test a program's predictability, using foreknowledge to determine if a program strays from desired actions during testing phases.
