How Does a 2-Stage NOS System Work

NOS systems add horsepower to engines.

NOS, or nitrus oxide, systems add horsepower to a car engine's output by injecting nitrous oxide into the air/fuel mixture going into the engine. Two-stage NOS systems work by wiring two NOS systems into one car.

2-Stage Systems

A single-stage NOS system only feeds NOS from a single bottle into your engine. Two-stage systems are designed to connect to two NOS bottles at once, and to feed the gas from both bottles into the engine.

Advantages

Using a 2-stage system can increase your engine's horsepower and acceleration more than what a single stage system will deliver. It can also maintain it's "boost" longer, because with two bottles the air pressure feeding the gas into the engine will be steady for longer than a single bottle depleting itself.

Dangers

NOS systems, of one or two stages, can severely damage your engine if used or installed improperly. Improper use includes engaging the NOS system when your engine is at a speed, and gear, where the engine cannot spin freely. Additionally, make sure you are buying your NOS kit from a reputable dealer.

Warning and Legality

NOS systems increase your vehicle's speed. Street racing on public streets is both illegal and dangerous. Never use your NOS system for racing outside of private tracks specifically designed for that purpose.
