Air Card Vs. Satellite

Satellite Internet is a stationary Internet source that has some disadvantages. Air cards are mobile and design for the consumer on the go. But, air cards also have their shortcomings.

  1. Satellite Internet

    • Satellite Internet requires a satellite dish be installed to receive Internet. There are latency issues with this type of Internet source and you a line of sight to the southern sky. You may have a cap on your upload and download data amount which, if hit ,will cut your speed down.

    Air Card Internet

    • Air cards can be plugged into your PC and used anywhere the signal reaches. You can get air cards a cell phone provider. If you are outside the provider's network you may be charged roaming fees. Also, if you go over your plan's usage allowance, you may also be charged.

    Comparisons

    • If you are looking for an Internet source to take with you wherever you go, air cards may be best for you. If you anticipate large download needs such as those associated with online gaming, an air card offers better speed. If you are a casual computer user, mobile satellite may be better for you.
