Isuzu Medium-Duty Trucks: The Specifications

Isuzu introduced its N-Series of trucks to the consumer market in 1959. This medium-duty line of vehicles was available in a multitude of applications, each one designed to fit different consumer projects.

  1. Engine

    • As of 2011 Isuzu offers two turbocharged, diesel engines for medium-duty trucks: a 3.0 liter and a 5.2 liter. The 3.0 liter is available in the smaller, NPR ECO-MAX trucks and has a power output rating of 150 hp at 2,800 rpm and 282 foot-pounds of torque at 1,600 to 2,800 rpm. The 5.2-liter diesel motor comes standard in all other medium-duty trucks. When paired with a manual transmission, power output is advertised at 190 hp at 2,650 rpm and 387 foot-pounds of torque at 1,600 rpm. With an automatic transmission, this motor sees 210 hp at 2,550 rpm and 441 foot-pounds of torque at 1,850 rpm.

    Dimensions

    • The length of the medium-duty trucks ranges from 200.6 inches to 303.5 inches in length, dependent upon the application. All N-series trucks have a width of 81.3 inches. The height of the NPR ECO-MAX, NPR HD and NPR HD crew cab trucks is 90.8 inches, while the NQR, NQR crew cab and NRR trucks are 92.4 inches tall.

    Weight

    • The small, NPR ECO-MAX truck weighs 12,000 lbs. The regular cab and crew cab models of the NPR-HD weigh 14,500 lbs. The regular cab and crew cab of the NQR weigh in at 17,950 lbs., while the heaviest truck is the NRR at 19,500 lbs.
