Explain Truss-Out Scaffolding

Truss-out scaffolding is a set of temporary scaffolds erected to allow work on a building to be done at height, either indoors or outdoors. Construction, maintenance and repair can all be done using truss-out scaffolding. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Proper Tools

    • Using appropriate tools to construct truss-out scaffolding can prevent falls. For example, using a rotary hammer with an angular chuck instead of a typical rotary hammer allow workers to drill holes for the scaffold without having to lean outward.

    Braces

    • Falls have resulted in fatal accidents from improperly constructed truss-out scaffolding. Workers sometimes do not adequately brace the scaffold and overload it, according to SafetyDirectory.com.

    Safety Brackets

    • The I bracket is itself difficult to install at the lowest end of the scaffold, so workers sometimes do not put it in. The T bracket, positioned higher up on the scaffold, has been developed as a simpler and safer bracket to install.
