How to Define a Full Capacity Ink Cartridge

Ink cartridges are used to supply printers with ink.

Laser and bubble jet printers use ink cartridges that require replacing or refilling. The printers use the polymers in their cartridges to print text and pictures onto paper, and as they use the ink the level drops.

Definition of Capacity

The word capacity when applied to printer cartridges, or any other container containing a liquid, refers to their volume.

Full Capacity

A printer cartridge is at full capacity when it has as much ink as it can hold. Every printer cartridge that is bought new starts out at full capacity.

Bringing a Cartridge to Full Capacity

You can manually refill a printer cartridge and bring it to full capacity with a printer cartridge refilling kit. These kits contain printer ink and a syringe that you use to inject ink into the cartridge until it cannot contain any more, i.e. it is at full capacity.
