The Easiest Way to Remove Hard-Water Stains From Shower Doors
Hard water causes unsightly buildup on the interior of shower doors, even in the cleanest of homes. Luckily, the most effective, simplest tool for removing hard-water buildup is found in the produce aisle of all markets -- lemons. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Hard Water
-
Hard-water stains occur because water contains dissolved minerals. In some areas, the mineral concentrations are higher than in other places. Areas consistently wet with tap water, such as the shower, build up these minerals on the surface.
Purpose
-
Lemon works well for removing hard-water buildup because of its natural citrus acid. The acidity of the fruit breaks down the mineral content in hard water.

Cleaning Method
-
To remove hard-water stains quickly and efficiently, cut a lemon in half. Hold a lemon half in each hand and scrub the shower door with the pulp side of the lemon. Squeeze juice onto the door as you clean. It may take several lemons to properly clean a door. Allow the lemon juice to sit on the door for five to 10 minutes. Rinse with clean water and dry immediately. Repeat this process if necessary.
