Gauge Block Standards

A gauge block, (sometimes "gage" block) is a precision length-measuring instrument, used to set standards for measuring tools used in machine shops. Gage block standards are set by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

ASME 89.1.9

Gage block standards are governed by ASME 89.1.9 2002. As of 2010, this standard has replaced the previous standard, ASME 89.1.9 1990, as the current ASME gage block standard.
