What Are Talking Alerts on an iPhone?

Talking Alerts is an application for the iPhone that is obtained by jailbreaking the phone. Jailbreaking refers to a process that allows you to download applications and programs onto the iPhone or iPod Touch that are not approved by iTunes.

Function

The Talking Alerts application notifies you when you receive 3G text messages, emails and voicemail. The application is downloaded through Cydia, the jailbreaking application that provides access to many unique applications not found on iTunes.

Process

To download the Talking Alerts application, you have to open the Cydia program and click on the games and sounds section to locate and download Talking Alerts. Once the application is installed, you need to go to the "Settings" section from your iPhone home screen and change the Sounds to "Horn."

Talking Alerts is a convenient application for receiving notifications about the text messages and emails, however, jailbreaking your phone could void your warranty with Apple. Jailbreaking your phone should be attempted with caution.
