Xilinx Timing Analysis

Xilinx is an internationally recognized provider of programmable platforms, including programmable logic devices and computer chips. Programming platforms such as these require timing analyses, which are assessed using timing analysis reports.

  1. Timing Constraints

    • In order for the program design to work, it is necessary to create a set of helpful timing constraints to ensure the desired functions are carried out by the device at the appropriate times. These are set by the programmer.

    Timing Analysis

    • Timing analysis tools are used to identify the critical, most efficient path in a design and check to see whether the timing constraints that have been set can be fulfilled. This is assessed using timing analysis reports.

    Timing Analysis Reports

    • A timing analysis report allows programmers to decide whether their timing constraints are optimal. This report contains a header, information messages, warning messages, the timing constraints that were set, constraint compliance, a data sheet report and a timing summary.
