Unitronic software is used to increase engine power

Unitronic software is developed by the American company, Unitronic, and designed to tune European cars to higher performance. It was started by two friends who were disappointed by the slow speed of a TDI (Turbo Diesel Injection) car.

  1. Use

    • The software is meant to improve the all-round driving experience by increasing the amount of power available by changing the engine's timing, boost and fuel mixture, as well as reducing the cars fuel consumption. The original driving characteristics remain the same, whilst safety features are not affected.

    Installation

    • The software is installed through the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) port of the car by connecting a laptop and running the program. No switching device is required, with the car always running with the new settings.

    Availability and Cost

    • The company has dealers across the U.S., Europe and Asia. Various levels of tuning can be purchased, depending on the users requirements, but start from about $100.
