Mice can carry the tick which transmits lyme disease.

Lyme disease is a very unpleasant condition to contract. It causes many unpleasant symptoms and can be difficult to treat. The disease is transmitted by ticks found on small animals such as mice, squirrels and other rodents. Oligomeric proanthocyanidins complex (OPC) is an antioxidant that may have value in the treatment and prevention of lyme disease.

  1. Symptoms

    • A variety of symptoms may indicate you have lyme disease. Unfortunately, these symptoms may also indicate another type of infection. You will probably have a rash that may extend to an area of about 12 inches around. After the rash appears, you will have a fever, chills, muscle aches and swollen lymph nodes.

    OPC

    • OPC claims to be an antioxidant 50 times stronger than vitamin E and 20 times stronger than vitamin C. Oxygen can actually cause damage to the cells of your body. Antioxidants can prevent and repair damage done in the body.

    Relief

    • OPC is made from grape seed pine bark and red wine extracts. OPC claims to help with cardiovascular health, to keep blood pressure lower, promote healthy skin and help reduce swelling in joints. It is this last symptom, joint swelling, which is prevalent in lyme disease So, while there have not been a lot of clinical trials related to OPC and lyme disease, you can safely take OPC and see if it reduces the inflammation caused by the condition.
