My Plumeria Plant Is Wilting

Plumeria plants are sensitive to cold weather.

Plumeria shrubs and trees are native to tropical regions of South America and Mexico. Plumerias bloom prolifically in the summer and its colorful blossoms are very fragrant. It is important to protect plumerias from cold and disease.

Insufficient Watering

Plumeria plants will wilt if they are not being watered enough. The trick is not to water it a little every day, but to water it deeply and let the soil dry before watering again. Reduce watering in the late fall and discontinue watering altogether once all the leaves have fallen off.

Rot Disease

Although the plumeria plant is quite disease resistant, it is susceptible to stem rot. The insides of the plumeria stems start to rot and liquefy, which subsequently causes not only leaf wilting, but also leaf spotting.

Frost Damage

Plumeria leaves will begin to wilt and darken within a day of frost damage. Cut rather than pull the leaves off once the frost season is over. Plumerias are only hardy until temperatures reach the low 40s Fahrenheit.
