Having a vehicle with the capability to tow and haul can come in handy for many reasons, from moving furniture to work. The factory-installed towing package may depend on which vehicle you select.

  1. Silverado Towing Capacity

    • The towing and hauling capabilities of the Chevy Silverado depend on the model selected. For example, the 1500 has a towing capacity of 10,700 lbs. and a max payload of 1,980 lbs. The 2500 Heavy Duty has a towing capacity of 17,800 lbs. and a payload of 4,192 lbs. The 3500 Heavy Duty has a towing capacity of 21,700 lbs. and can haul 6,635 lbs.

    Silverado Towing Package

    • According to information from Chevrolet, the Silverado's "hitch trailering package" includes a welded steel hitch, wiring receptacle and 2-inch receiver on light duty pickups. The package includes a "sleeve adapter" for heavy duty trucks to make the receiver 2 inches.

    Other Chevy vehicles

    • For 2011 Chevy Suburban, Tahoe and Avalanche the "heavy-duty trailering package" includes an external transmission oil cooler, 3.42 ratio rear axle and two-speed transfer case. The 2011 Traverse "trailering equipment" option includes a heavy-duty engine cleaner and trailer hitch. The Colorado "trailering equipment" option includes a hitch with a weight distribution platform and a seven-pin sealed trailer wiring connector.
