Duramax Dually Chevrolet Specifications

The Chevrolet 3500HD with the Duramax turbodiesel 6.6L V8 and dually option is the most powerful pickup truck Chevrolet sells. These two options give the Chevy Duramax twice the towing ability of gasoline-powered equivalent trucks.

Duramax 6.6L Turbodiesel V8

The Duramax 6.6l V8 turbodiesel horsepower rating is 397 HP at 3,000 rpm. The torque rating is 765 foot-pounds at 1600 rpm. The 6.6l gasoline engine develops 360 horsepower and 380 foot-pounds of torque. The Duramax turbodiesel's torque rating doubles the gasoline equivalent torque rating.

Dually Option

The Chevrolet 3500HD has the dually option, which means four wheels sit on the rear axle instead of two. This enhances the truck's performance by providing double the tire footprint of a two-wheel rear axle. With four wheels on the rear axle, it can bear more weight than the two wheel. The extra footprint also gives the dually more traction for pulling more cargo.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2011 Duramax Turbodiesel also burns less fuel than its earlier model. The EPA estimated highway fuel burn was 17 mpg for 2011, up from 15 mpg for the 2010 model.
