Can I Use My Verizon XV6700 Phone on the Sprint Network? thumbnail
Consumers want the best phones to work on their provider's network.

The XV6700 is a Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 cell phone that is offered exclusively from Verizon. Although Sprint and Verizon work on similar networks, the XV6700 cell phone cannot be used with Sprint.

  1. Networks

    • Sprint and Verizon use the CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) network. As of 2009, there were over 460 million cell phones using CDMA.

    Software Programming

    • Although Sprint and Verizon use the same type of network, phones are not interchangeable between the companies because of software programming. Phones are programmed to work exclusively with the cell phone company that it is designed for. The VX6700 is designed to only work with Verizon.

    Serial Numbers

    • Every cell phone has a unique electronic serial number (ESN) embedded in the phone by the manufacturer. The ESN is usually located behind the battery of the phone. Sprint will not activate an XV6700 because it has a Verizon ESN.
