Treatment and Control
-
Control insects and diseases with proper gardening practices. Chrysanthemums require full sun and well-drained soil, and need regular watering. Fertilize plants during the growing period and pay special attention to watering needs. If you observe signs of insects or disease, take a sample of the affected area in to your local university extension for testing in order to ensure appropriate treatment. Most chrysanthemum pests are easily controlled with pesticide sprays or dusts, with the exception of verticillium wilt, according to the Ohio State University Extension.
