The Catholic Church has seven sacraments.

The Catholic Church has seven sacraments. A sacrament is an outward sign of grace established by Christ. There are neither more nor less sacraments added or removed over time.

  1. The Seven Sacraments

    • The seven sacraments are: baptism, eucharist, reconciliation, confirmation, marriage, holy orders and anointing of the sick.

    Marriage as a Sacrament

    • Marriage offers an increase of sanctifying grace. Marriage is not only a legal contract, but a method of connecting to God. Marriage creates a lifetime relationship and should not be entered into lightly.

    Divorce and the Catholic Church

    • A couple can get a legal divorce and still be married in the eyes of the Church. To remarry, a Catholic must obtain an annulment of the prior marriage. An annulment is an investigation into whether the previous marriage was valid or not. If it was not valid, it can be annulled.
