1999 Dodge RAM Cummins Information

Dodge began installing Cummins diesel engines into Rams in the 1989 model year. This trend continues as of the 2011 model year. The 1999 Cummins engine had standard and high-output versions.

  1. Configuration

    • The 1999 Cummins diesel engine was an inline six-cylinder. It had 24 valves and an overhead-valve configuration. It also had a single turbocharger to help boost performance.

The high-output 5.9-liter Cummins, only used on manual transmission-equipped Rams, produced 235 horsepower at 2,700 rpm, and 460 foot-pounds of torque at 1,400 rpm.
