Add more functionality to your computer by using toolbars.

A toolbar is a graphic interface that adds additional functionality for users. Toolbars are typically composed of icons, buttons and menus and applications such as operating systems and Internet browsers use toolbars.

  1. Web Browser Toolbars

    • These types of toolbars come with all Web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, MS Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Some Web browsers come with their own toolbars by default. Users have the option to download additional toolbars to their Web browsers. Bing bar, Google Toolbar, AOL Toolbar and the Yahoo! Toolbar are third-party toolbars available for Web browsers.

    Operating System Toolbars

    • Toolbars in operating systems add additional functionality by providing quicker access to programs and other locations on a computer. In Windows, the main toolbar is a horizontal graphic interface in the taskbar. Other applications such as word processing programs in operating systems also have toolbars.

    Malicious Toolbars

    • Some toolbars negatively impact your computer. Most of these are installed by malicious software (malware). They are most common in Web browsers and are usually installed without your consent. Use your antivirus software to remove these toolbars.
