Many cars still have a physical key to open the doors; still others have remotes to open the doors. If this remote is stolen, you have a couple of options.

Dealership

Car remotes use special codes in the remotes for different cars. Not all manufacturers store this information centrally, so you will need to contact the dealership where you bought your car to find your car's code.

New Remote

Once you have the code for your car, you can purchase a new remote. This remote will need to be bought from a dealership that sells your brand automobile.

New Code

If you get a new remote, the old remote will still work. If you are worried about the individual who stole your remote getting into your car, contact your dealership's customer service department. They will tell you if it is possible to change your car's code and how much it would cost to do so.
