Bra Strap Pain

Bras can be a blessing and a curse.

A woman should feel comfortable in her bra and not dread wearing one. A perfectly fitting bra should not cause any pain. Understanding why your bra straps are hurting and getting professionally fitted can help eliminate the pain.

  1. Shoulder Straps

    • You may experience pain from the shoulder straps when the bra is not as supportive as it should be. In this instance, shoulder straps are often tightened to overcompensate for the lack of support, leading to shoulder pain.

    Middle Straps

    • Pain or tightness across the back of your bra or underneath the breasts can be caused by the middle strap of the bra being hooked too tightly across the back or having the wrong band size.

    Thin Straps

    • Pain can be caused by wearing a bra with straps that are too thin. This can cause the other parts of your bra to rub against your skin causing irritation. For women with large bra sizes, the straps can also dig into the shoulders causing pain from under support.
