HTML Script Style Fonts

HTML Script Style Fonts thumbnail
Scripted fonts are often considered classier than plain type fonts.

Script style fonts can be used to add visual interest to a Web page. Prior to the mid-1990s, font styles were specified using an HTML font tag. The introduction of cascading style sheets (CSS) separated HTML structure from styling.

  1. Features

    • Web fonts are either serif or sans serif. Script style fonts do not fall into either category. However, any fonts supported on an end user's computer will appear when specified on a Web page.

    Considerations

    • Serif fonts are easier to read on computer screens. However, display fonts are acceptable for short headings. Script fonts are a type of display font.

    Expert Insight

    • Not all script style fonts are available on all operating systems. However, free and subscription font APIs do exist. These services use Web scripting to ensure the same font appears for all users.
