Property Trespass Laws in the State of Michigan

Trespass and Willful Trespass

The Michigan Criminal Code devotes an entire chapter to criminal trespass to property. These laws are contained in Sections 750.546 to 750.552c and include the general prohibition against trespass on the lands or another; willful trespass by cutting or destroying property or by entering the improved land of another with intent to injure it; trespass upon cranberry, huckleberry or blackberry marshes; trespass on vineyards, orchards, gardens or medicinal plants; unlawful dumping of garbage; trespass on a state correctional facility; and entering or remaining in a key facility. Key facilities are specifically defined in the code and include locations such as chemical manufacturing and water treatment facilities.

Michigan penalizes those who rescue an animal from a peace officer in lawful custody of the animal, after the animal has trespassed on someone's land, according to Section 750.69.

Hi Porter fam, Trespass Laws are more involved than I thought. Up here they just rip the "No Tresspassing" signs down and enter anyway. I have talked to some of the guily ones. They give me the excuse that they have hunted on this land since the beginning of time and thus consider that they actually own the land! Keeps one very busy chasing one's own tail...lol.
