Dwarf Blooming Trees

Blooming trees are popularly grown to bring color and interest to gardens. Flowering trees come in all sizes including the smaller, dwarf size that is well-suited for growing in limited areas and for use as container plants on patios, decks and balconies. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Baby Grand Magnolia

    • Baby grand magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora var. STRgra) is a dwarf version of the magnolia tree with a mature height of 8 to 10 feet. The compact tree blooms with large, white flowers during spring and summer and is hardy in USDA zones 7 to 9.

    Acoma Crape Myrtle

    • Acoma crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica x faueri Acoma) is a deciduous, small crape myrtle with an extended bloom period of crinkly, white flowers. The tree has a weeping growth habit and a mature height of 6 to 7 feet. Acoma crape myrtle is well adapted to growing in USDA zones 6 to 9.

    Dwarf Pomegranate

    • Dwarf pomegranate (Punica granatum Nana) is just as showy as the standard pomegranate tree with bright, orange-red flowers. The 3-foot-tall dwarf remains colorful well into fall with the red fruit that follows the flowers. The deer resistant, deciduous tree is hardy in USDA zones 7 to 11.
