Barcode training consists of using PDAs, scanners and OCR readers to store or extract data.

Barcode training is a specialized training course for companies or businesses using barcode systems. These systems are primarily found in the area of logistics and retail sales. Hardware and software vendors providing barcode hardware and software usually create their own training courses which differ in time frames according to each vendor.

  1. Training Features

    • Barcode training features consist of understanding how hand-held terminals interface with a computer unit or workstation, how barcodes are translated into numbers and database management. Devices such as, hand-held terminals and scanners are used in a training session.

    Training Courses

    • Most courses are offered by the software vendor by contract with the client for services. Vendors typically have training facilities which simulate a working environment or personnel can conduct on-site training according to the clients wishes. Most vendors conduct continuing seminars or offer on-site training to their clients which is determined by a service contract. Prices for training may be predetermined in the service contract.

    Benefits

    • There are many benefits to barcode training. Training enhances the knowledge of individuals using barcode system devices and equipment interfaces. Training also helps individuals troubleshoot problems when barcodes appear not to work or scanners are having trouble reading optical character reader (OCR) labels.
